The majority of the shoes collected by The Shoe Bank every year are donated by area school children.
Approximately 140 schools from 8 different school districts, primarily in the North Dallas Metropolitan area, participate in the Shoe Bank Program. Schools in the city of Allen organize a “re-use-a-shoe” campaign for The Shoe Bank every year and routinely collect approximately four thousand pairs of shoes for distribution to children in need both here and abroad.
But special collections are also organized by churches, civic groups, running clubs, and virtually all types of businesses. Southern Methodist University, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, The United States Postal Service, The Mary Kay Corporation, The Dallas Arboretum, the CISCO Corporation, and The Rosewood Mansion at Turtle Creek, have all organized special collections benefiting The Shoe Bank.
Special collections are also organized by Girl Scout Troops, Boy Scout Troops, and youth athletic teams and organizations.
